Scores of eminent citizens gathered at Maimasa Compound, Ojagboro, Gambari Area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Saturday to pay last respect to the former Dean, Postgraduate School of the University of Ilorin, Professor Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf.
It was at the funeral prayer for the deceased, who died on Friday in Lagos after a brief illness.
Mammoth crowd of residents of Ilorin including members of the academia converged on the family quarters of the erstwhile Provost of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin for the janaaza that was performed around 11:05am.
The Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulHameed, led the prayer session with the support of other prominent clerics from the Ilorin Emirate.
The remains of the varsity Don were thereafter laid to rest at his family compound.
At the funeral prayer were Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Shaykh Suleiman Farouq Onikijipa; former member of the House of Representatives for Ilorin East and Ilorin South Constituency, Dr Abubakar Amuda-Kannike; Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Professor Lateef Oladimeji; Akeem Usman Mustapha (SAN) and founder, Sobi FM, Dr Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha.
This medium reports that as of the time of filing report, dignitaries from the Ilorin Emirate continue to troop into the family quarters of Professor Yusuf, a one-time Federal Commissioner in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
