NUC: Ogundipe’s appointment reflects administrative competence, visionary leadership- AATU

AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU), Oke-Ogba, Ganmo, Kwara State said the appointment of Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Universities Commission (NUC) reflects the confidence reposed in his wealth of experience, integrity, administrative competence and visionary leadership.
Wind Gate News reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently approved the appointment Ogundipe, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), to chair the NUC governing board.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, the AATU’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Olatunji
described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of ex-UNILAG vice-chancellor’s exemplary leadership, distinguished academic career and immense contributions to the advancement of higher education in Nigeria.
“Ogundipe’s tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos reflected institutional stability, academic excellence, infrastructural development, research innovation and enhanced global visibility for the University.
“AATU is particularly delighted that one of Nigeria’s finest university administrators has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing strategic leadership for the Governing Board of the National Universities Commission. We are confident that Professor Ogundipe will bring his vast wealth of experience, administrative acumen and deep understanding of university governance in strengthening quality assurance, institutional governance, research, innovation and academic excellence across Nigerian universities,” the statement added.
The Ag. vice-chancellor also noted that Ogundipe introduced monumental initiatives that strengthened postgraduate education, improved research productivity, enhanced academic standards and mentored thousands of postgraduate students, who have continued to make significant contributions to national development when he held sway as the Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Lagos,
Olatunji recalled with pride that he was privileged to undertake his postgraduate studies at the University of Lagos while Ogundipe served as the Dean of the Postgraduate School, describing the new Chairman of the NUC Board as a disciplined academic leader, an inspiring mentor and a strong advocate of excellence whose leadership positively influenced many scholars.
The university expressed confidence that Ogundipe’s tenure would further reposition the National Universities Commission to effectively drive policies that would enhance the quality, competitiveness and global relevance of Nigeria’s universities.
While wishing him a successful, impactful and fulfilling tenure, the AATU boss prayed that the Almighty God grants NUC chairman good health, wisdom and strength to successfully discharge the responsibilities of his new office in the interest of the country’s higher education sector.
