The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has advocated adequate security measures to prevent future attacks on communities around Kaiama in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The call came against the backdrop of the recent terrorists’ attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama where over 75 local residents were slaughtered with a number of valuables perished in the process.
The state Chairman of NLC, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, said this in a condolence statement issued in Ilorin, a copy of which was extended to Wind Gate News.
Olayinka, in the statement, urged security agencies to available resources within their kitty to bring the perpetrators of the massacre to justice.
He added that the gruesome murder of the victims requires immediate action of the government and the security agencies to ensure accountability.
Describing the killings as senseless, the NLC chairman expressed solidarity of the labour movement to the bereaved families and affected communities.
“On behalf of the entire Workers of Kwara State, we extend our deepest condolences to you and the people of Kwara State on the recent banditry attack in Kaiama Local Government Area. The senseless killings of innocent civilians in Woro and Nuku communities are a tragic reminder of the insecurity plaguing our nation.
“The government and people of Nigeria stand in solidarity with the affected families and communities. We pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for those who lost loved ones.
“The recent attack is a cowardly act that demands immediate attention and action. We urge the security agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“Adequate measures must be taken to protect lives and property, and to prevent such attacks in the future. We stand with the people of Kwara State and Nigeria in this difficult time,” the statement read in part.
