A business mogul, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, has declared his intention to run for governorship election in Kwara State in 2027.
Seriki is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the declaration in a viral video sighted on his verified social media handles on Monday morning.
Seriki, who is the North Central Coordinator of City Boy Movement (CBM), a platform designed to mobilize young population for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, said he threw his hat into the gubernatorial ring after meditation and consultation.
The governorship aspirant noted that he would serve as Governor for every Kwaran regardless of section, religion and political differences if given the opportunity.
Seriki’s declaration came days after some stalwarts of the APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) unfolded their plans to contest for governorship in the state.
In the video, Seriki said, “Kwara remains blessed with religious harmony, peaceful co-existence and the proud heritage of unity. These enduring values must continue to guide us as one people with a shared destiny even as we confront the difficult challenges of insecurity facing our communities.
“After a clear meditation and consultation, in response to the sincere request of our people, I Abdulfatai Yahaya of Seriki Gambari family officially reaffirm my intention to serve as Governor for all and for all the people of Kwara come 2027, bihidhinillah.
“..Not for a section, not for a religion, not for a gender, not for a political divide. But for everyone across Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South. Our vision is simple and clear. Kwara one, AMBA one.”
