By Folayimika Akanbi
Funke Adesiyan, a popular Nollywood Actress, has announced her decision to halt plan to vie for the House of Representatives seat for Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency in Oyo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She said her dumping the plan was personal and deliberate.
In a letter sighted on her Facebook post on Saturday, the screen diva said her decision was sequel to “certain reflections and high-level consultations.”
The letter, dated April 24, 2026, was addressed to the APC Chairman in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.
She said, “This decision is personal, deliberate, and guided by a clear assessment of the broader political landscape, as well as my commitment to long-term value, credibility and purposeful service.”
The actress expressed gratitude to her supporters and stakeholders for their backing throughout her political ambition.
“I remain fully appreciative of the confidence reposed in me across different levels and the encouragement received from supporters and stakeholders within and beyond our constituency,” she added.
Adesiyan noted that withdrawing from the race this time would allow her to refocus and continue contributing to development through other means.
Wind Gate News reports that this would be second time that the Nollywood actress would be throwing her into the ring for elective office.
