Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Senator representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha; former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki; Emir of Ilorin Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; and Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, were among eminent dignitaries at Ilorin Eid Prayer Ground for Eid-el-Adha festivities held across the globe today.
At the prayer ground, Muslim faithful converged as early as 7am to observe two rakats prerogative prayer, which the Imam of Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulHameed, led at exactly 9:50am.
It was observed that the Governor arrived at the sacred ground in company of Senator Mustapha, who clad in ‘Babariga’ costume with gown and turban to match to reflect his traditional title as Turaki of Ilorin.
The prayer ground was highly fortified with the presence of security personnel both in uniform and in mufti.
Top government officials, traditional chiefs and title holders in Ilorin Emirate also swarmed the section of the sacred ground carved out for Very Important Personalities (VIPs).
The Emir of Ilorin, in his message, urged residents of the state capital and Kwara at large to embrace peace and extend love to one and another.
Wind Gate News reports that the prayer was observed under a peaceful atmosphere.
The Imam Imale also delivered a sermon immediately after the two rakats prerogative prayer.
This will be the second time that the Imam Imale will be leading the Ilorin Eid prayer following the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solihu, in January this year.
He first led the major congregational prayer during the Eid-el-Fitri held a few weeks after the transition of the Chief Imam.
