Ahead of the Eid-el-Maulid celebration, the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is deploying a total of 1,200 of its personnel across the state.
The civil defenders, according to the state command of the corps, are to man strategic locations such as places of worship, markets, motor parks, major roads, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, recreational centres and other public gathering points.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday, the Spokesman of the state command of NSCDC, Ayoola Michael Shola, said the deployment received the approval of the state Commandant, Abbas Ndah Mohammed.
The statement explained that the deployed personnel are to provide enhanced security and ensure a peaceful and orderly Eid-El Maulid.
It noted that personnel from specialised units, including the Special Female Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Agro Rangers and CBRNE Unit, have also been placed on heightened alert to respond promptly to emerging security concerns.
The statement quoted the commandant to have urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the appropriate authorities.
It said Abass congratulated the Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of Eid-El Maulid, admonished them to celebrate peacefully, and to use the festivity to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
