The House of Representatives Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Dr Rafiu Ajakaye, has declared that with the experiences he garnered in public office, he has much to offer for the people of the constituency.
If elected, Ajakaye, who is the immediate past Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said he would preoccupy himself with promotion of good governance through effective legislative oversight and focus on tackling security challenges.
He spoke to Journalists on Monday on the sidelines of the APC’s appreciation tour of Kwara South Senatorial District.
The ex-publicist of Kwara Governor added that with his seven years of service in public office, he has gained valuable experience, thus motivating him to do more.
He said, “I have served as a public officer for the last seven years, and throughout that period I have gained valuable experience and the motivation to do more for our people. I believe I still have much to offer, particularly in promoting good governance through effective legislative oversight and supporting initiatives that address critical issues such as security and development.”
Ajakaye disclosed that his desire to contribute more to the development of his constituency prompted the decision to contest for the House of Representatives’ seat.
The former Chief Press Secretary said his years in government exposed him to the realities of governance and strengthened his commitment to public service.
Ajakaye clarified that the recent visits across communities in Kwara South were appreciation visits rather than campaign activities, explaining that the delegation visited traditional rulers and APC stakeholders to thank them for their support during the party’s primaries.
“The three-day tour was organised to express gratitude to party members and community leaders ahead of the commencement of official election campaigns,” he added.
