A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Abiola Yunus Abdulkareem, has officially entered into the race to vie for the House of Representatives’ seat for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Abdulkareem, who is Special Adviser to the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and The Creative Economy, picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms of the APC.
He confirmed the development in a statement made available to Wind Gate News in Ilorin on Sunday.
Popularly referred to as Jagunlabi, the aspirant, prior to picking up the forms, held consultations with critical stakeholders in the federal constituency.
It was learnt that the Minister’s aide convened series of meetings with different organizations in the area where he intimated them of his intention to join contest. This was sequel to his meeting with the Prince Sunday Fagbemi-led Kwara State Chapter of APC.
Findings showed that the aspirant also met with traditional institutions in the constituency including Olosi of Osi, Oba Abdulkareem Salihu Adasofegbe, for their royal blessings for his ambition.
This medium recalls that Abdulkareem vied for the ticket of APC for the green chamber’s seat in the 2023 polls but eventually teamed with the candidate of the party, who went ahead to win the election.
In a statement this medium obtained, Abdulkareem wrote on his verified Facebook Page in respect of his intention to run for the seat, “Consultations have officially begun—across small groups and larger community engagements—because true representation starts with listening.
“These interactions are vital to understanding the real needs, aspirations, and priorities of our people. By engaging widely and intentionally, we are laying the foundation for inclusive, informed, and people-centered representation that truly reflects the voice of our constituency.
“Our visits to palaces and places of worship are rooted in respect, tradition, and a shared vision for progress—declaring our intentions clearly, while outlining practical plans that will deliver real value to our people, offering reassurance, renewed trust, and a breath of fresh air—one that brings hope, purpose, and a stronger connection between leadership and the people we serve.”
