All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Saturday, insisted on the legitimacy of the emergence of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, as governorship flag-bearer of the party for the 2027 general elections.
They said the primary election that produced Danladi-Salihu was conducted in full compliance with the constitution of the APC, its internal guidelines, and the established democratic procedures governing party nominations.
The stakeholders of the ruling party in Offa said this in a joint statement issued and made available to Journalists in Ilorin.
Those who signed the statement include
Hon. Gbenga Yussuf (Kwara State House of Assembly Member representing Eesa/Shawo/Igbodun Constituency), Hon Seun Ogunniyi (Kwara State House of Assembly Member representing Ojomu Balogun Constituency), Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam (Kwara State Commissioner for Health), Hon. Suleiman Olatunji Laaro Omituntun (Chairman, Offa LG), Hon. Hassan Oyeleke (former Majority Leader of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly, Chief Abdulhakeem Kayode Adebiyi, Hon. Femi Agbaje (Former Political Adviser), Hon. Tade Shittu (Former SSA KWGIS), Alhaji Kunle Adegboye (Offa APC Chairman), Alhaji Layi Oyediran (Chairman of Ward Chairmen and Chairman for Ojomu North/North West Ward).
They warned against setting a dangerous precedent with the move to delegitimize the shadow election that produced the state speaker as gubernatorial candidate of the party.
The stakeholders, who passed a vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership and pledged loyalty and commitment to APC, cautioned members against unguarded actions capable of creating confusion and disunity within the party.
The APC leaders, in the statement, rejected any form of internal division capable of weakening the party and promised to mobilize for the success of the party from top to bottom in forthcoming general elections.
“We categorically affirm the legitimacy, validity, and binding nature of the duly conducted APC Governorship Primary Election in Kwara State, which produced Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu-Danladi as the authentic and democratically elected gubernatorial candidate of our great party.
“The primary election was conducted in full compliance with the constitution of the APC, its internal guidelines, and the established democratic procedures governing party nominations.
“The outcome reflects the collective will of the overwhelming majority of our party faithfuls, and its outcome remains sacrosanct, irreversible, and binding on all organs and members of the party.
“Any attempt, whether directly or indirectly, to undermine, delegitimize, or reopen the already settled decision of a properly conducted primary election is not only unconstitutional but also a dangerous precedent capable of destabilizing internal democracy.
“We hereby declare our total, unqualified, and unalloyed endorsement of Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu-Danladi as the flag bearer of the APC in the forthcoming Kwara State governorship election.
“He represents a new wave of vibrant and purposeful leadership with legislative experience and administrative competence required to consolidate the gains of APC in Kwara State.
“His emergence is a product of due process through a highly competitive direct primary, and we therefore stand firmly with his candidacy as the standard-bearer of our party for the 2027 Governorship election.
“We call on all party faithful and stakeholders across Kwara State to close ranks, bury all forms of internal disagreement, and rally decisively behind his candidacy to guarantee an overwhelming APC victory in 2027,” the Offa APC stakeholders said.
