The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Friday, rolled out the timeline for the 2027 general elections.
For Presidential and National Assembly polls, the electoral umpire picked February 20th, 2027.
The INEC similarly announced March 6, 2027 for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections.
In preparation for the polls, the electoral management body also fixed date for primaries and campaign of political parties.
Below is the timeline for the elections, according to INEC.
Party Primaries: July 1 – September 30, 2026
(Political parties will select their candidates during this period.)
Submission of Candidates to INEC: October 1 – October 31, 2026
Publication of Final List of Candidates: November 15, 2026
Campaign Periods
Presidential & National Assembly Campaigns:
November 18, 2026 – February 19, 2027
Governorship & State Assembly Campaigns:
December 15, 2026 – March 5, 2027
Election Days
Presidential & National Assembly Elections:
Saturday, February 20, 2027
Governorship & State Houses of Assembly Elections:
Saturday, March 6, 2027
