The wife of a school proprietor and about 23 pupils have been kidnapped after unknown gunmen attacked a orphanage and school facility in the Zariagi Area of Lokoja, Kogi State.
Our source identified the name of the school as Dahallukitab Group of Schools.
Wind Gate News could not immediately verify the name of the abducted school owner’s wife.
It was learnt the incident occurred on  Sunday night.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications in Kogi State, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said security operatives responded swiftly, leading to the rescue of 15 of the abducted pupils.
He disclosed that the school was operating outside regulatory oversight.
Fanwo said, “The facility was operating illegally in a remote, bushy environment without registration with the State Government and without the knowledge of relevant authorities and security agencies.”
He noted that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining eight victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
“The Kogi State Government commends the gallantry, professionalism, and swift response of the Police and other security agencies for rising decisively to the occasion,” he added.
