Two suspected cultists nabbed for armed robbery in Kwara community

Two suspected members of a cult group, Abdulazeez Isiaq and Rilwan Mohammed have been apprehended for armed robbery within Amoyo Area of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Operatives of the state Police Command swooped on Isiaq also known as Pumpin and his accomplice after a report of robbery attack at Kabba Kajola Junction during which the suspects allegedly dispossessed their victims of phones and other personal effects.
It was learnt that preliminary investigation identified Pumpin as a notorious criminal in Amoyo axis.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday, saying that they had admitted to the crime.
The statement, titled “Major crackdown: Kwara Police arrest armed robbery, cultism suspects,” disclosed that a local pistol and one of the stolen phones were retrieved from the suspects following their arrest.
It said the suspects would be prosecuted in court after the completion of the command’s investigation, and assured residents of its continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizenry.
“The Kwara State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against violent crime with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and cult members operating within the Amoyo axis of Ilorin.
“Following a report received on 19th April, 2026 at Amoyo Division concerning an armed robbery incident at Kabba Kajola Junction, swift intelligence-driven operations led to the arrest of Abdulazeez Isiaq alias Pumpin and Rilwan Mohammed, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend another suspect currently at large.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects assaulted the victims, forcefully took them to an uncompleted building used as a hideout, where they threatened to kill them and dispossessed them of valuables including an iPhone 13, Samsung A2S, and other personal effects. A locally made pistol and one of the stolen phones were subsequently recovered from the suspects, who have confessed to the crime.
“Further investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) confirmed that the suspects are members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity, linked to several cases of armed robbery and cult-related killings in Ilorin and its environs. The principal suspect, Abdulazeez Isiaq, is a known criminal figure, and his arrest has significantly disrupted criminal activities in the area,” the statement partly read.
