Following the announcement of Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s preferred gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections, Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, has thrown his weight behind the decision.
He identified the endorsement of Seriki as highly merited, adding that the business mogul remains the number one supporter and friend of the incumbent Governor.
The Speaker said this in a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, on Tuesday night.
The statement was titled “Kwara Speaker Welcomes Endorsement of Amb Abdulfatai Yahya Seriki.”
Describing Seriki as an individual with whom he shares deep and mutual respect, the Speaker said he aligns himself with the supremacy of the party over its pick.
Salihu expressed optimism that the preferred gubernatorial aspirant would consolidate the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq.
The statement reads, “The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has received with enthusiasm, the endorsement of Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, MFR, by His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON as his successor in the forthcoming general elections.
“The endorsement of my good brother and ally, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, MFR, as a preferred candidate to fly the guber ticket of our party by His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON is a welcome development and as a committed and loyal party member with absolute belief in the leadership of the Governor as our undisputed leader, I align myself with the endorsement in deference to the party’s supremacy.
“AMBA as he is fondly called is someone with whom I share deep and mutual respect, his endorsement is highly merited as the number one supporter and friend of the Governor and our government, a successful businessman would be coming on board with a lot to offer and to consolidate the achievements of our leader, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“At this junction, the right thing to do for every loyal party member is to queue behind Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as our leader in his wisest choice of his successor, close rank and continue to work for the victory of our party in the 2027 general election and beyond.”
The Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, stepped down his gubernatorial ambition in the state.
He made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday.
