Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has pledged his commitment to collaborate with the Police and other security agencies to prevent crimes in the state.
AbdulRazaq said on Monday this when he received the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.
Disu visited Kwara on a two-day operational tour.
The Governor was of the view that the state government’s partnership with the Police and other security agencies would enhance security in the state.
In a statement obtained on his Facebook page, AbdulRazaq expressed confidence in the ability of the Inspector General of Police to deliver, recalled that Disu led a Police detachment of the operation to flush bandits out of Kwara before his elevation to his current position.
The Governor, who noted that the new IGP’s work has been cut out for him, described him as a man of immense capacity and goodwill and congratulated Disu on the appointment.
“Yesterday (Monday), I received the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, on a working visit to Kwara State.
“We exchanged useful views on how to strengthen public safety in our state and across the country.
“Before his appointment, the new IGP had led a Police component of the Clearance Operation that took place in Kwara. He is very much aware of the challenges in the state. It was reassuring that he acknowledged this and committed to doing more to prevent the breakdown of law and order in Kwara and all over the country.
“Our administration will continue to collaborate with the Police and other security agencies to prevent crimes and ensure improved security in the state,” he said.
