The Senior Special Assistant on Labour Matters to Kwara State Governor, Comrade Abdulmumini Onagun, has said the conferment of the Sardauna of Ilorin on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq represents a fresh call to greater responsibility, service, unity and dedication to the people of the state.
He also described the choice of his principal for the Emirate’s chieftaincy title as a remarkable honour and a significant moment for the people.
This is contained in a congratulatory message Onagun personally signed and made available to Journalists in Ilorin on Friday.
It is titled “A royal honour, a call to greater service: Comrade Abdulmumini Abdulkareem Onagun congratulates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Sardauna of Ilorin.”
This medium reports that the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Wednesday, formally turbaned the Governor with the traditional title in the presence of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; State Governors, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the National Assembly, top government officials and captains of industry among others.
While acknowledging the Governor’s labour-friendly dispositions to the well being of serving and retired workers in the state, Onagun noted the administration’s consistent respect for the dignity of labour and genuine concern for the welfare, rights and aspirations of members of the state workforce.
He expressed gratitude to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chief, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for finding Governor AbdulRazaq worthy of the prestigious title and prayed Allah continues to grant the monarch wisdom, sound health, long life and a peaceful and prosperous reign.
Onagun also prayed that the Sardauna title will further inspire the Governor to continue promoting peace, unity, development and the welfare of the people of Kwara and the Ilorin Emirate as he assumes the new traditional responsibility.
He, however, commended the Senior Adviser and Counselor to the Governor, Alhaji Sa’adudeen Salahudeen-led Organizing Committee for the dedication, commitment, coordination and hard work that contributed to the successful organisation of the historic turbaning ceremony.

This has further strengthened the relationship between the Government and the organised labour movement.
“The conferment of this prestigious traditional title is a remarkable honour and a significant moment for His Excellency, his family, the people of Kwara State and the entire Ilorin Emirate. The Emirate has described the honour as recognition of the Governor’s leadership, commitment to peace and unity, and contributions to the development of Kwara State.
“Your Excellency, the title of *Sardauna of Ilorin* is not merely a traditional honour; it also represents a fresh call to greater responsibility, service, unity and dedication to the people. I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to grant you wisdom, strength, good health and the humility required to discharge the responsibilities that come with this prestigious position,” the congratulatory message read in part.
