The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its Chairman in Moro Local Government Area of the state, Abdulganiyu Musa, for a period of one month over allegations of gross misconduct and related offences.
Musa has also been referred to the State Disciplinary Committee for further investigation to ensure due process and afford him the opportunity to defend himself in line with the fair hearing provisions of the party’s Constitution.
The state Deputy Chairperson of the PDP, Wosilat Atinuke Macarthy, is to head the disciplinary committee.
The party took the decision at the 4th meeting of its State Working Committee (SWC), which its state chairman, Issa Bawa, presided over and held at its state secretariat, Ilorin.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the PDP said the suspension was effected pursuant to Sections 58 and 59 of its Constitution after receiving complaints from some party officials in Moro local government area against the embattled chairman.
Musa is to cease functioning in his capacity as Moro local government chairman of the party and must not parade himself as such throughout the period of the suspension.
He is to hand over property, documents, and items in his possession to the Vice Chairman, who will assume office in acting capacity to ensure the smooth administration of the party affairs in Moro local government in line with the party’s constitutional provisions.
The state Secretary of the party, Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode, has formally communicated the decision to the affected chairman through a correspondence.
