The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command has approved the deployment of 2,350 personnel of the corps to provide security for citizens during the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr in the state.
The operatives to be deployed across the 16 local government areas of the state would be drawn from specialized units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit.
The operatives are to protect critical national assets and ensure safety of residents throughout the festive period.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Tuesday morning, the Public Relations Officer of the state command of NSCDC, Ayoola Michael Shola, said the state Commandant of the corps, Bala Bawa Bodinga, approved the deployment.
It quoted the commandant to have issued a stern warning to individuals with criminal intent, stressing that the command will decisively deal with anyone attempting to undermine public peace and order.
The statement said the decision of the corps was a proactive move to guarantee a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
It noted that the operation consists of credible intelligence and detailed threat mapping, with priority attention accorded to flashpoints, high-risk corridors and other sensitive locations to ensure maximum effectiveness and public safety.
The statement maintained that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been mandated to sustain aggressive patrols, strengthen surveillance and implement proactive response measures within their Areas of Responsibility.
It said the NSCDC will coordinate closely with other security agencies, local vigilantes, and community members to ensure comprehensive coverage, rapid response, and uninterrupted public safety during the festive period.
The statement extended felicitations to Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts through prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
