BREAKING NEWS:  Rivers crisis: Tinubu holds talks with Wike, Fubara in Aso Rock

By Folayimika Akanbi
For the umpteenth time, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a meeting with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, following the lingering political crisis in the oil rich state.
The meeting held on Sunday night at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, took place behind closed doors.
Some leaders from Rivers state were also said to be in attendance at the meeting.
Wind Gate News reports that the Sunday’s meeting would be the third time that President Tinubu personally intervened in the godfather and godson’s rift in the state.
The feud between Wike, immediate past Governor of Rivers and his successor, Fubara, has continued unabated with the state House of Assembly threatening to impeach the Governor for alleged gross misconduct.
However, a source at the meeting convened on Sunday night at Aso Rock said Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja shortly after the meeting.
The Nation Newspaper noted that Tinubu presided over the meeting.
As of the time of filing this report, outcome of the meeting was yet to be officially communicated but Wind Gate News gathered that it was not unconnected with the political unrest in the state.
The Rivers Assembly, in its latest resolution on Fubara, accused him of spending without provision and refusal to transmit list of commissioner-nominees in his cabinet to the House among other sundry allegations.
It would be recalled that the political stand off between the two warring politicians (Wike and Fubara) resulted in the decision of President Tinubu to declare a State of Emergency in Rivers last year.
