The primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the aspirants vying for its tickets for House of Representatives in preparation for the 2027 general elections will now hold on Saturday.
With this development, the shadow election will not hold tomorrow (Friday) as earlier scheduled.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, clarified in a statement on Thursday, that “previously announced primary election dates remain unchanged” except for the House of Representatives exercise.
The party said the adjustment does not affect other scheduled primaries, including those for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidency.
It said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the postponement of the House of Representatives Primary Election for the 2027 General Elections to Saturday, 16th May, 2026.”
The statement added that the Senate primary election will still hold on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the State House of Assembly primary is fixed for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The governorship primary remains scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, with the presidential primary slated for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
