The Kwara State House of Assembly has ratified the appointment of two commissioner nominees into the state cabinet.

The approval of the nominees: Dr Afees Abolore Alabi and Jimoh Ali Yusuf, both from Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state, was sequel to their appearances on the floor of the House for screening.

On their separate appearances for screening at Thursday’s plenary, the House allowed the duo to bow and go.

The confirmation of the nominees came after the House dissolved into the Committee of the Whole where the appointment was unanimously ratified.

The Speaker, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, presided over the plenary and announced the approval of the nominees as commissioners in the State Executive Council.

This medium reports that Jimoh Ali Yusuf represented Ilorin East Constituency in the state House of Assembly in the ninth legislature and served as the Deputy Whip of the House.

Prior to the confirmation of the nominees, Danladi identified Yusuf as a man of integrity, a committed and loyal party man while recalling their working relationship in the previous legislature.

He therefore appealed to the House to allow the former lawmaker to take a bow and go, expressing confidence that he would serve diligently in any ministry he is assigned to.

Yusuf, after appreciating the House for recognizing his contributions in the 9th Assembly, bowed and left.

Alabi was also allowed to take a bow, having appeared before the House on several occasions and scaled all screenings.

The speaker and other lawmakers described Alabi as an educationist, a thoroughbred professional who would discharge his duties professionally in any ministry he is assigned to.

He thereafter directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the confirmation of the nominees to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

AbdulRazaq had, on October 20th, 2026, transmitted the names of the two commissioner nominees to the House for screening and confirmation.

Alabi last served as Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development until his recent resignation from office to pave way for him to vie for the House of Representatives’ ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency.

He also was appointed as Commissioner for Tertiary Education during the first tenure of Governor AbdulRazaq.
