A former Commissioner for Works in Kwara State, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo, may emerge the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives following the decision of four aspirants in the race to step down for him.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in Ilorin on Saturday.
This came as members of the party eagerly await the results of the primary election for the House of Representatives seats held nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wind Gate News reports that four aspirants, who agreed to step down and adopt Olododo as consensus candidate, include immediate past state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Afeez Abolore Alabi; Mashood Gobir, Yakubu Babatunde Ajadi (known as Prudent) and Tajudeen Ibrahim Olesin.
Nine aspirants, including the incumbent House of Representatives member for the federal constituency, Dr Yinka Aluko, are vying for the ticket of the APC.
It was learnt that some stakeholders of the ruling party presided over the meeting where the four aspirants resolved to step down and back Olododo for the ticket.
Findings also showed that the four aspirants, who were also cleared to participate in today’s shadow election are all from Ilorin East local government area where Olododo hails from.
The aspirants reportedly promised to fully support the consensus candidate in the ongoing primaries in the constituency and in the forthcoming 2027 polls.
It would be recalled that Olododo resigned from office as Commissioner for Works to pursue his ambition to represent Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Wind Gate News observed that the young politician had received a huge amount of goodwill since he threw his hat into the ring for the green chamber’s seat.
