The organized labour in Kwara State said the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate title bestowed on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was fitting and well deserved.
It explained that the Governor, since the advent of his administration, had shown that he is out to change the narrative and better the lives through people oriented policies and programmes.
The labour movement made this known in a joint statement in Ilorin issued through the state Chairmen, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka; Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa; and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Comrade Saliu Oluwole Suleiman.
The labour leaders congratulated the Governor for his recognition within the Emirate traditional institution.
The statement said it was heartening that the administration prioritizes development across all facets of governance including education, health, agriculture, road network and other critical areas.
The labour leaders noted that there had been significant improvement in the state outlook with the infrastructural projects the present administration had undertaken.
The statement added that Governor AbdulRazaq’s pick for the Sardauna of Ilorin could not have come at an appropriate time than now in view of his commitment to the development of Ilorin Emirate in particular and Kwara State in general.
The labour leaders commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for recognizing and appreciating excellence in the leadership of the Governor with his selection for the traditional title, expressing the hope that the honour would spur the AbdulRazaq-led government to do more.
While thanking Governor AbdulRazaq for paying attention to workers’ welfare and well being in the state, the labour movement called on him not to waver in prioritizing issued affecting the workforce through the provision of incentives to cushion the effects of the lingering economic hardship.
“The labour movement in Kwara State heartily congratulates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to the growth and development of the state, which earned him this covetous traditional title of Sardauna of Ilorin from the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
“It is not in doubt that the traditional title is fitting and well deserved if the performance of the Governor is anything to go by. Our prayer is that the Governor continues to get more recognition for doing the state proud in all ramifications,” the statement partly read.
