Kaiama’s attacks designed to distract security forces’ onslaught against terrorists, says Gov AbdulRazaq

The gruesome murder of scores of rural dwellers late Tuesday in two communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State was designed to cause distraction for security forces currently waging war against terrorists and other criminal elements in parts of the state.
The state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, made this revelation in a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
A copy of the statement was extended to Wind Gate News on Wednesday evening in Ilorin.
Sources in the community said gunmen invaded both Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama where they killed many residents of the two villages.
While condemning the massacre in the statement titled “Gov AbdulRazaq mourns victims of Kaiama attack as security forces press on counterterrorism operations”, the Governor noted that security personnel had neutralized many of the criminals in the ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
He condoled the people of Woro and Nuku communities on the sad incident, especially the families affected in the Tuesday attack.
“Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is saddened by the cowardly attack on civilians in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area.
“The Governor condemns the attack, which he says is a cowardly expression of frustration by terrorist cells following the ongoing counterterrorism campaigns in parts of the state and the successes so far recorded.
“Governor AbdulRazaq says the attack was apparently to distract the security forces who have successfully hunted down several terrorist and kidnapping gangs across many parts of the state,” the statement read in part.
