Two Site Engineers from the Kwara State Ministry of Works, who were abducted alongside five staff of a construction firm, have been released.
Suspected terrorists swooped on the victims at Owa Onire, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state a few weeks ago while efforts to secure their release initially hit the rock.
The state Commissioner for Works, Engr Abduquawiy Olododo, confirmed the release of the seven victims in a statement made available to Wind Gate News in Ilorin on Monday.
Olododo, in the statement issued through the Press Secretary of his Ministry, Olajide Abolarin, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his efforts, which aided the release of the victims.
The statement urged security forces to strengthen public safety and rid the state of bandits and terrorists.
The statement was titled “Kwara construction workers regain freedom.”
This medium reports that the incident had stirred anxiety on the state of health of the victims.
The statement lauded the Governor, the security agencies and those who stood resolute with the government in the moment of trial.
“All the seven construction workers recently kidnapped in Owa Onire community of Ifelodun have regained their freedom.
“Commissioner for Works, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo, confirmed their freedom on Monday morning, commending the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the security forces to strengthen public safety and rid the state of bandits and terrorists.
“The abductees included two engineers of the State Ministry of Works,” the statement read in part.
