Kwara State is now ranked lowest in under-5 mortality rate in the country.
A latest survey from the Federal Ministry of Health revealed this on Sunday night.
With this development, Kwara has emerged the best state where a child can be born and raised.
The state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, made this known in the early hours of Monday in a post obtained from his verified Facebook Page.
AbdulRazaq said the federal government’s survey showed that the investment of his administration in the basic health is appropriate.
He pledged that the state will not be complacent on account of the latest feat his government recorded.
The Governor, in the post, said, “Last night, I received the newest Federal Ministry of Health’s survey which shows Kwara under our watch as the best state in which a child can be born and raised (NDHS, 2024).
“At 14/1000, the report shows that our state has the lowest under-5 mortality rate in Nigeria.
“While this report tells us that our investment in primary health care is a step in the right direction, I assure the people of our state that we will not become complacent. We will do more to make things a lot better.
“We are indeed proud of the current standing of Kwara State under our watch.”
