Two suspects, Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala are undergoing interrogation in the custody of the Kwara State Police Command over their alleged role in aiding and abetting kidnapping in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Wind Gate News gathered that police preliminary findings linked the suspects to the abduction of three individuals in Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, Ifelodun local government area.
The state police command confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Ilorin on Friday.
In the statement titled “Police intensify crackdown on kidnapping, arrest two suspects in Kwara,” the Public Relations Officer of the command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said both Shehu and Bala are assisting the Police with useful information in the ongoing investigation.
It said efforts are being intensified to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.
The statement quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, as reassuring residents that the command remains resolute in advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, anchored on intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property.
Ojo, in the statement, urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely, credible, and actionable information, assuring that every piece of intelligence received will be professionally harnessed to strengthen ongoing efforts at combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
“The relentless pursuit of criminal elements and everyone connected to their activities continues to yield tangible results as operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects for their alleged roles in facilitating the kidnapping of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
“The arrest underscores the command’s unwavering resolve to ensure that criminal networks, including their collaborators and informants, are identified, dismantled, and brought to justice in line with its commitment to protecting lives and property.
“The suspects, Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, are currently under investigation for alleged criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping. Their arrest followed discreet intelligence-led investigations which linked them to the abduction of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State,” the statement noted.
